Petrified Wood Stool

Rich in texture and innately stunning, our petrified wood stool retains the natural look of a tree stump. These stools are extremely solid, dense and sturdy. They also work well as beautifully rustic bedside tables. Petrified wood is best described as ‘wood turned into stone’ as a result of petrification when wood buried underground is starved of oxygen. For wood to be petrified, it has to be buried under mud, silt or ash quickly, before it starts to decay. Depending on where it’s sourced, its age can range from 20 million to 300 million years, and possibly older. Please note: Due to the natural and handcrafted nature of this item, there will be variations in the appearance of each unique piece.
