Good storage is essential in a hallway, especially if it doubles up as a cloakroom or boot room. A carefully chosen coat stand, bench, wide stool and wicker ware can add character and practicality, keeping the space organised and essentials close to hand.  Mirrors can also be especially useful in narrow spaces, reflecting light and visually opening up an area, as well as providing a focal point. Hallways are busy spaces and, underfoot, tactile materials like wood, stone and natural-effect porcelain provide a robust, practical floor finish that’s really easy to keep clean.  They can also be paired with underfloor heating for extra comfort. And don’t forget some simple accessories; artwork, flowers and a well-placed lamp can soften a space or, if you have the room, create a cosy corner for a quiet spot of contemplation.
