Also known as ‘golden fibre’, jute is a natural, sustainable material that comes from the storks of the giant topical Corchorus herb. Also known as ‘golden fibre’, it is native to tropical and subtropical areas where seed is scattered by hand. The fibres used to make our pendant are woven over a lightweight metal frame in a wide, open square weave; the gentle wobble of the jute strings adds to its natural, organic look.
“Large pendants make wonderful centrepieces. Choosing a natural, woven shade adds lots of texture and can soften clean lines in a minimalist space. The open weave of our Jute design also diffracts the light beautifully, creating a warm glow and a pattern of shade,” explained Indigenous founder and designer, Joss Thomas. The oversized pendant measures 600mm in diameter and weighs just 5 kgs. It is suspended from three jute strings which can be shortened or lengthened to suit.
